“One of the best trips of our lives” (TRIPADVISOR) 25/03/2014 My husband and I booked at the Manoir de la Roseraie to take advantage of their truffle weekend escape. From the moment I emailed the hotel to the moment we checked out, everything was absolutely flawless. The front desk staff was extremely helpful responding to my loads of questions about the weekend, and even was gracious enough to have the manager Pierre pick us up and drop us off at the Manoir from the train station. Our trip began with a lovely coffee in the picturesque restaurant, followed by a visit to the truffle market at Richerenche, wine at a local cafe, an incredible truffle lunch at the Manoir (including a dessert which my husband said was the best of his life), a truffle hunt, a visit to a local winery, and finally a six-course truffle meal at the Manoir. Pierre was our guide throughout the weekend and really made sure that we had a special experience. He really does a wonderful job attending to all the hotel guests, making the manoir truly a home away from home. But for those who aren’t visiting for truffle season I’ll focus on the hotel itself. First off the rooms are just lovely, historic, but still clean and spacious, with lovely bathroom amenities and lots of storage space. The restaurant though, is really the highlight of any visit. Course after course after course we were simply blown away by the quality of the food – everything is made in house, including the bread, and everything was just phenomenal. Not to mention the dining room itself is a beautiful glass-enclosed veranda, with wonderful views of the gardens during the day. The hotel also provided us with a complimentary visit to Grignon castle which is an interesting historic spot with great views of the valley. Overall this was one of those places we’ll long to return to year after year, we’re already hoping to get back there in spring to see the lavender.
